Nuuk International Friskole – in daily talk NIF – is located in Nuuk district Nuussuaq.
The school is with its 195 students and 33 employees the smallest elementary school in Nuuk.
NIF was founded by a group of parents in 2006. In the articles of association, that the school has been set up to run “internationally oriented school”. Therefore, NIF is not as such an international school with international curriculum in line with IB or Cambridge schools around the world.
At NIF we have chosen to follow our own way and put Danish Danish solo tanks into a new Greenlandic context.
The law on free elementary schools in Greenland states, among other things, that: “Free elementary schools provide education within 1 to 10. class steps that are aimed at what is usually required in primary school “.
We wish that all students who have joined the NIF are offered the opportunity to develop their abilities and skills so that they can realize their hopes and dreams.
We want to contribute to the development of Greenlandic society. That is why we work closely with the municipality’s other schools, the teacher education in Greenland, the city’s business community and educational institutions and schools from Denmark and the rest of the West.
